Break-in, Blue Ridge Acres
Computers, power tools and DVDs stolen. All of the recent break-ins and thefts I'm aware of have occurred at the end of the week or weekend in the middle of the month. Maybe that's when they're running out of cash for drugs?
Please be vigilant and report suspicious activity.
Please see the attachment for more details.
Cars pilfered
Several cars were broken into on Woodburn lane on either Saturday or Sunday night. The thief (or thieves) were apparently checking cars and searched unlocked cars for money.
Please remember to lock your cars
Late night crazy / drunk driver
A truck sped around the development doing donughts and throwing gravel, blaring dance music between the hours of 12:00am and 2:30am. State police were contacted. It was a Silver Nissan pickup, 2WD with damaged tailgate - may have also had off road lights above the cab.

Possible Casing Activity
Apr 9 2007 - 9:00am
Over the Easter weekend I noticed several times a beige car with two young men driving aimlessly around the Keyes Ferry and Wide River Farms area. At one point they were stopped for no apparent reason at the corner of Laurel and Keyes Ferry Road. The driver was a white male wearing a ski cap.
Any one with a plate number or additional descriptors, please feel free to add the info in a comment. Thanks.
Stabbing Incident
In the 700 block of Hickory Nut Lane, Westridge Hills, a young male was stabbed twice while trying to gain entry into a home during a domestic related conflict over a girlfriend.
The homeowner was taken into custody after the incident was investigated.

SIG 16, Gate 4 Shannondale
At approx. 630pm, scanner traffic noted homeowner reported a signal 16, break-in, upon arriving home in the 300 block of Locust Lane, off of Shenandoah River Drive.
This is the first reported home break-in in many months, to the best of my knowledge.
No other details are available at this time.
Anyone noting suspicious persons or unusual traffic in that area today, please call Unit 51 or SSP, or email the info via the CONTACT tab at the top of the page. Thanks.
Theft of Beer from Stores.
A young male has been involved in the theft of a case of beer from two local stores, Weber's and Sweet Springs, in the past week.
The male was seen driving a turquoise Neon with possible MD plates and may now be living somewhere in The Mountain area.
In both thefts, he parked his vehicle so that the plate # could not be readily seen, walked into the store, grabbed a case of beer and quickly left. A female was waiting in the car at Sweet Springs. In the Webers incident, a male accomplice was with him.
The Sheriff's Dept. and SSP are interested in getting a vehicle plate # and a location on this suspect so that he may be stopped before there is another deadly DUI incident in the area.
Anonymous info may be sent by clicking on the "Contact" tab at the top of this page. THANKS.
Break-in on Keyes Gap Road
At approx. 6:30 p.m., scanner reported a break-in on the 1200 block of Keys Gap Road, apparently discovered when resident returned home. No other info is available at this time, and the report is being posted to ALERT area residents to a serious security issue.
Residents who are at home during the day, or even riding through the area, please report any suspicious activity, to include teens roaming around when they should be in school. Be alert for anything "out of place" including strange vehicles and persons "scouting homes" where residents are at work. Get tag numbers where possible and call 725-8484 to report info to the Sheriff's Deputies out on patrol.
Remember, statistics show that most crimes are solved or prevented due to resident involvement!

KUDOS To Deputy Edwards
Posted July 7th, 2006 by RonKUDOS To Deputy Edwards for her arrest of the person terrorizing The Mountain Community with his ATV and pitbull.
The Panhandle Section of The Journal contained a nice article on 7-6-06 which described the events leading to the recent arrest for crimes committed at Easter.
Great "bulldogging" Deputy Edwards! Thanks for being persistent and following through on this case. Hmmm, wonder if Deputy Edwards was ever in the Marine Corps?
Special Thanks Deputy Holz , ALL LE and SSP
Posted June 2nd, 2006 by nwatch1I have seen a noticable police presence up here on The Mountain and would like to thank LE for making such an improvement in just being here and being seen.
Thank you to Deputy Holz for supporting Mountain Watch, and taking personal time out to attend and present at our meetings. Your support and that of all LE is extremely important to the success of all Neighborhood Watch programs in our county.
A special thanks to SSP who has continued year after year to keep the Shannondale area a safe place and has supported our program with knowledge and moral support. Thanks to Ron who has played a significant part in this website and helped me from the getgo.

Mail Theft
Mail was stolen from 16 address in Keys Ferry Acres last night. The mail was found dumped on Woodburn Lane in Blue Ridge Acres. The perp walked from Lakeview drive to Woodburn lane through the woods.
The mail was dumped between 8pm and 8 am Thursday, December 15th. They ripped open Christmas cards looking for money. The perp wears between a size 11-12 shoe and probably walks with a substantial limp. I have pictures of the footprints and a map of the locations. The Post Office will be contacted and the mail returned.
Location on the map is where the mail was found.
