The Mountain Now Has A Fire Sign

On Saturday, due to the efforts of Mountian Watch members (primarily Mtn Watch Coordintor Barbara), we were able to get a fire sign donated from the FireWise program to the mountain community and placed in front of the Blue Ridge Fire companies Mission Rd Station. Smokey Bear was in attendance for the dedication.

Fire Provention, detection and Safety all require the same type of preparedness and watchfulness as a Neigborhood Watch program. For safety you need to do certain things to make yourself less likely to become a victim and this goes the same for Fire Prevention.

WV is currently in the high session for Forest Fires

Mtn Watch hopes to have a training session next year on how communities that back into and are part of forested areas can better protect their homes against forest fires - we will keep you posted.

Thanks to SSP and the Deputy Sheriffs for helping with traffic control on Saturday and our wonderful volunteer FireFighters who hosted the event and provided lots of home cooked food.

REMEMBER: ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT WILDFIRES

THANKS Barbara and Carla

Thanks, Carla, for the nice post-event report. Can you identify the BRMVFD folks in the pix?

And a VERY BIG THANKS to Barbara (NWatch2) for all the time and effort in making everything work!
